Privacy Policy

Last updated July 2026

Tea lets you collect anonymous messages through a link you share. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short because we collect little.

What we collect

When you set up Tea we store the Instagram handle you type and a profile picture (either fetched from your public Instagram profile or one you upload). Your identity on Tea is tied to your device, not an email or password, so we do not ask for either.

We store the prompts you create and the anonymous replies you receive, including any images. We keep basic technical data such as app version and a push notification token so we can alert you when a reply lands.

What senders share

People who reply to your link do so anonymously. We do not show you who they are, and we do not build a profile of them for you.

To make blocking and reporting work, we store a one-way, keyed fingerprint of the browser that sent each reply. It is not an IP address, a name, or a device identifier, it cannot be reversed to identify a person, and it is used only to block, report, and remove abusive senders. We delete it after 90 days.

How we use it

We use your data to run the app: to show your card, deliver replies, send notifications you turn on, and keep the service safe and working. We do not sell your personal information.

Instagram

Your handle is a display label. We do not verify it and we are not affiliated with Instagram or Meta. If a profile picture is fetched from a public profile, we store our own copy so your card keeps working even if the original changes.

Your choices

You can change your profile picture in Settings, and turn notifications on or off from your device settings. Deleting your account removes your profile and your replies. This cannot be undone.

Children

Tea is not intended for anyone under 13, and you must meet the minimum age required in your country to use it.
